Airport expansion to bring jobs to Victoria
One of the most important aspects of a city's infrastructure is the accessibility it provides. Ease of transportation ensures thriving trade connections, continuous property investment and commercial expansion.
Melbourne is working to support its network of access through the expansion of the Latrobe Regional Airport.
The state government has dedicated $1.2 million from the Regional Aviation fund to the project, which Victoria hopes will create new jobs.
Aviation minister Gordon Rich-Phillips was pleased to announce the financial allocation in a statement yesterday, May 23 and asked that the federal government also make a contribution.
"The funding will expand the airport's operations and capacity and create new opportunities for jobs and investors."
Employment opportunities abound from the development, during and after construction.
"GippsAero employs 140 staff and estimates that it will require more than 300 when its expansion plans are implemented," Mr Rich-Phillips said.
"A further 30 direct jobs are expected to be created from growth in the associated aerospace supply chain."
Melbourne property investment may benefit from the expansion of the regional airport as it will likely attract additional business.
